After the rough week yours truly has had thinking and writing about the Vince Young situation, it’s a good thing to write about football and enjoy this victory.
The Cincinnati Bengals were toothless today against the Tennessee Titans. The team put all concerns about Vince Young aside, rallied behind Kerry Collins, and played great defense on the way to victory.
Story of the Game: Titans D Dominates — Again
The Titans shut down Ocho Cinco and Cincinnati’s passing game. Tennessee’s defense held the Bengals to 215 total yards. Both Cortland Finnegan and Michael Griffin intercepted Carson Palmer. And Keith Bullock blocked a punt a recovered the football for a defensive touchdown.
The Other Story of the Game: Kerry Collins manages the game
Props to Kerry Collins for making tough throws in the windy conditions of Paul Brown stadium. His stat line was modest — 14 of 21 for 128 yards, one touchdown pass and a fumble — but he got the ball to the Titans wide receivers, something Vince Young had a tough time doing last week.
Chris Johnson
I am so happy Sonic the Hedgehog is a Tennessee Titan. Johnson had his first 100-yard rushing day as a professional and caught two passes.
Next Week: The Houston Texans
The Texans have had a rough week. The team’s week two matchup versus the Baltimore Ravens was cancelled due to the effects of Hurricane Ike.
I have compassion for the citizens of the Houston-Galveston area, but I don’t care much for the Houston Texans. The Titans will attempt to maintain its lead in the AFC South and achieve a 3-0 record. I’m confident that Collins will play well and that the Titans championship defense will rock Matt Schaub.
Go Titans!
