It doesn’t matter if your quarterback passes for over 300 yards if you lose the game.
Vince Young only completed 55 percent of his passes for 116 yards, but his 73 yards rushing were huge for the Titans offense. Several of his scrambles were on third down and allowed Tennessee to retain possession.
Chris Johnson had another outstanding game with 151 yards on the ground. Kenny Britt made his first career touchdown catch.
Tennessee’s defense gave up a lot of yards to Matt Schaub, but true to form, they put pressure on the Texans quarterback at key moments and did enough to keep Houston in check.
Of course, it helps when the opposing kicker misses a potential game-tying field goal.
Give Jeff Fisher credit for preparing his team for a tough contest and for winning a road game against an eager opponent.
But give credit to owner Bud Adams for forcing Fisher’s hand and insisting that Vince Young start for the Titans.
Throw aside the stats. This night belonged to Vince Young.
Go Titans!
