Two simple points sum up today’s victory:

1. Jeff Fisher didn’t play Fisherball in the first quarter, and the Titans offense scored 21 points
2. The Houston Texans defense is awful

Point one is amplified by Kerry Collins’ stats:

• Collins’ first quarter stats: 7-11-141-2-0
• Collins’ 2nd-4th quarter stats: 7-13-96-0-0

Did Fisher decide that going for it on 4th down was not sustainable for four quarters? Did Collins cool off after a hot start? The lack of scoring after the first quarter was likely due to both Fisher’s philosophy and Collins’ play.

To be fair, Chris Johnson got enough carries (24) to be effective. CJ had a 42-yard run and tallied 130 yards.

Despite the final score, the Houston Texans led in time of possession. The Titans defense shut down Arian Foster, but Matt Schaub racked up typical Matt Schaub stats: 325 yards passing, two touchdowns, and a pick.

Thankfully, there was not another fistfight involving Andre Johnson and Cortland Finnegan.

Randy Moss did not have a catch, and I’m not sure if he played at all.

Kenny Britt played, and for the second straight week, the Titans offense resembled the group that took the field during the first half of this season. Britt bailed out Collins on an underthrown pass (a la the Titans-Eagles game in October) for a 59-yard play, and finished the game with 128 receiving yards.

Rookie cornerback, blogger and poet Alterraun Verner made four tackles and an interception.

Bo Scaife was a “healthy scratch.” I guess Scaife will think twice before making public statements that cast doubt on the state of the Titans’ locker room.

Speaking of the locker room, Vince Young made a relatively brief but extremely necessary appearance on the sidelines.

Next week, Tennessee travels to Kansas City to keep their remote playoff hopes alive.
