The Beatles of R&B?
Ronnie DeVoe said he wants NE to be mentioned in the same breath as the Beatles. Let’s start here.
I can’t think of a group (outside the Beatles) whose individual members have had the popularity, success and cultural impact that Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Bobby Brown, Ron DeVoe, Johnny Gill and Ralph Tresvant have experienced.
It’s About the Music
This is not an all-inclusive site. My focus is on the music and what the music has meant to me over the years. I hope as I add reviews to the site that you will gain (or renew) an appreciation for what this group has contributed to American music and culture.
Other than album covers, there are no pictures on this site. There are no music downloads or videos. And most importantly, this site will not mirror what the tabloids have to say about the members of this group.
Why Visit This Site?
I have a lot to say about NE. Over time I will add more synopses and commentaries about NE’s albums and singles. I hope this site will be an interesting archive of New Edition’s first twenty years – and beyond.
